The elementary students hit their 3rd quarter Dojo point goal of 45,000 Dojo points and earned a family movie night at the elementary school on Friday evening. The turnout was incredible, and it was wonderful to see so many families come together for an evening of fun, entertainment, popcorn, and drinks. Keep being safe, respectful, and responsible, Cougar Nation, and keep earning those Dojo points!

March 6, 2024 Dear Parents/Guardians- Following is important information regarding the final very busy days before the opening of our show “NEWSIES.” Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you so much for your support in allowing your students to participate in this amazing musical story! I have highlighted all the categories where you may have questions along with the schedule for these next 9 days. If I forgot something or you have questions, please do not hesitate to call or text me at (402) 957-5573. WHAT DO STUDENTS NEED TO WEAR FOR THE MUSICAL? Mrs. Katie Davis is costuming the cast, but if you can help out by exploring your closets or want to go to some goodwill stores and find your own costume, that is great as well and definitely helps us out. Newsies costumes are pretty easy. Girls can wear plain skirts or pants if they want. Neutral colors are best. (Black, brown, beige, tan) Long sleeved plain or plaid shirts colored shirts with vests or plain colored neutral suspenders are also great. Black or brown plain boots are dress shoes will work. We don’t want anything to be too fancy or modern looking as the setting of this story is in 1899. (Nike or Reebok didn’t exist then!) See the pictures below to get an idea of how we would like the students to look. If you can’t find some items, let us know right away and we will help! We do have hats for the students, so you do not need to worry about that. Students need to have their costumes by next Thursday March 14th so please let us know if you need something before then. Many of the items might be found in their grandparents closets as well! WHEN ARE THE FINAL REHEARSALS AND PERFORMANCES? I apologize as I wanted to get this schedule out sooner but had to work out some logistic issues with scheduling and getting the auditorium and the set ready. YES, WE DO! There are a few things we could really use help with. FOOD for the students-We have some very long days coming up and the students get very “hangry!” If there are any parents who would be willing to contribute and help provide meals or snacks for the cast and crew (about 75 people), that would be so great. The PTO is providing a meal for the cast on Tuesday March 12th. However, we could still use some help with food for the students on Monday March 11th, Thursday March 14th and Friday March 15th. Friday is going to be a VERY long day for everyone as we will be performing the show for the whole school in the afternoon and again for the general public that evening. So they are really going to need food. If there are any parents that would be willing to be in charge of this, please let me know! PROPS AND STUFF-We need the following: An old wooden crutch, clothes racks for costumes, a BIG BIG old style camera on a tripod. We also may need help with making some other props and staging things but will keep you posted on that. I will be in the auditorium most of the weekend and if you’d like to help on those types of things, just text or call me. (402) 957-5573 STAFF CHAPERONES-School staff who have children in the show, if any of you are willing to chaperone back stage during rehearsals or the performances, please let me know. We do have a couple staff members helping already but could use more if possible. With around 75 students involved, we want to make sure there are plenty of adult staff members to help. STRIKING THE SET-After the show on Sunday, we will need help taking down the set, putting away costumes, chairs, and loading sound equipment. If there are parent or staff volunteers who could help, it would be so greatly appreciated! SPREAD THE WORD!-Please go on your social media pages and share our poster and information regarding the show. The students have worked really hard and this is such a great show. We hope to have a great crowd for all three performances!! Thank you so much everyone! Again, please do not hesitate to let me know if you have any questions. The countdown is on! ONE FOR ALL AND ALL FOR ONE! NEWSIES FOREVER!! Ms. Baker
