Tom Osborne

Former Nebraska football coach Tom Osborne will visit Central Valley High School in Greeley on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at 2:00 p.m., to talk about the need for volunteers for TeamMates, a locally funded, school-based mentoring program he and his wife Nancy started in 1991.

The goal of TeamMates is to support and encourage young students by pairing them one-on-one with an adult mentor to help grow their imaginations, develop new interests, and better recognize their strengths and potential. At present, the TeamMates program is in five midwestern states and benefits children in nearly 170 school districts. Despite its success, the program needs more adult volunteers.

Principal Todd Beck, who supports the program and has been a mentor himself, said, “The satisfaction I gained just by connecting on a deeper level with one of our students was incredibly rewarding.”

Beck said Central Valley is privileged to have Osborne visit our high school, and he hopes everyone in the public will feel free to attend the event.
