Central Valley Public School vocal music teacher Julie Baker and her Jazz Quartet will be performing for the student body of Central Valley Public Schools on Thursday August 19th. A one hour performance will be performed for the high school at 10 a.m. and another performance will be held for the elementary at 2 p.m. The 5th and 6th graders will join along singing with the band on the song "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" at the 2 p.m. performance. The public is invited and encouraged to attend either or both performances.
The Jazz Quartet features professional musicians Jennifer Novak-Haar on piano, Mark Haar on Bass, Doug Montera on drums and Julie Baker on vocals. Jennifer and Mark have toured with Mannheim Steamroller and Doug spent 20 years as a drummer in the Air Force Band. Julie will be performing a variety of music with an emphasis on Jazz while speaking about her humble beginnings growing up in the Sandhills to becoming a well known Jazz vocalist in and around the Omaha area. Her hope is to share her passion for music with the students in Central Valley while encouraging their participation in the school music program.
