ELEMENTARY CHRISTMAS CONCERT PARENT LETTER November 28, 2023 Dear Parents and Guardians, Following is information for the upcoming K-6 Christmas concert which will be held on December 8th at 7pm. The students have been working hard on their songs and are excited to share their performance with you! WHAT IS THE ATTIRE FOR THIS CONCERT? Kindergarten-1st-2nd Grades: (Song themes: Santa and his Reindeer)The students may wear nice dress clothes, Christmas colors, Christmas sweaters or red and green. The more festive and “Christmasy” they dress, the better! (Santa hats and other props will be provided) 3rd Grade: (Song theme: Christmas in the West) Any kind of western wear! (Jeans, cowboy boots, cowboy hats, bandanas and anything the is “cowboy” or “cowgirl” style) YIPPEE YI YO!! YEEHAW!! 4th Grade: (Song theme: The holiday and ugly sweaters) Ugly sweaters and nice dress pants (Nice jeans without holes are fine IF your student does not have dress pants) Please do not feel you have to go out and buy something. Students are welcome to make their own “ugly sweater” and can use anything that's fun and maybe even a little crazy! (for example, they can take a sweater or a sweatshirt and pin or glue on Christmas ornaments, cotton balls for snow or really anything! Some students have mentioned battery operated lights! Anything goes on this one!) Mrs. Woods class will also need their coats for one song. 5th and 6th Grades: (Song theme: Snow) Students may wear any kind of Christmas sweater or nice shirt with nice dress pants or their nicest pair of jeans (without holes) They will also need a winter hat and a scarf to look like they are going out in the snow! WHEN DO THE STUDENTS NEED TO ARRIVE AND WHERE SHOULD THEY GO? The students need to be at the school and in their classrooms by 6:30 p.m. so they can prepare for the 7 p.m. show and get lined up. ARE THE BAND STUDENTS PLAYING ON THIS CONCERT? YES! The 5th and 6th grade bands will be playing at the concert. The band students will report to their classrooms first and then go to the band room to get their instruments once they report to their teacher. CONCERT ETIQUETTE REMINDER; We have discussed proper concert etiquette with our students and what is expected of them both as performers and audience members. Our hope is that our audience will give our students the attention and respect they deserve while performing. Here are a few things to note: 1. Talking during a performance is distracting to our students onstage as well as other audience members. 2. If you have to leave the performance to go to the restroom or for some other reason, please try to go between songs during applause. This way you won’t disturb any of the performers during a musical selection. 3. If you have a little one that is very upset and unconsolable, feel free to take them out until they are happy again. 4. Talking or being on a cell phone during a performance is also distracting to performers and not appropriate. However, if you are using your cell phone to video a family member or the performance, that is totally OK! Thank you for giving us the opportunity to work with your students. We look forward to presenting this concert for you as we celebrate this holiday season! Please let us know if you have any other questions. Sincerely, Ms. Baker and Mrs. Sipes 🙂
