It is hard to believe how this school year is finishing up, but one skill we want our students to have is to be able to adjust to any situation. I hope all students and families are safe and I am asking them to finish the school year with perseverance and ambition. CVPS will be having another hand-out/pick-up May 1. All students will be given enough material for the end of the year. Seniors, your school year ends May 7th and underclassmen your school year ends May 22nd. I have to give my report to the Nebraska Department of Education at the end of the year, to have our rule 10 obligations excused and to show that our students were still working on skills during this 4th quarter. This Friday, seniors will come in and take a senior photo to use in the virtual graduation. They will also be given their caps and stoles. Then on May 22nd, all students will come during the day to collect all belongings and pick-up diplomas, scholarships, awards, contents of lockers, and report cards. All students should bring back at that time any textbooks, library books, computer and chargers, chromebooks and chargers, uniforms, and pay for any outstanding bills. The schedule for the final day will be posted on Central Valley website. Students, this is not the way I thought our 4th quarter would look, but I want to thank all of you that put effort forth to complete enrichment activities and helped at home. I know that this has been a new and different experience for all of us, but i want you to know that education happens everywhere, at home, school, work, and even with friends. I hope you used some of this time to do things with your family that sometimes is difficult when everyone is running off to school and work. Our job at CVPS is to give you skills to be successful. One of the best skills to have is being able to take initiative to get work done, just being a hard worker. It isn't what you know right now, it is what you are willing to learn. As you can tell in this email, I miss all of my students and I have been thinking a lot about you. Seniors-go out and show the world that you are willing to work to get what you want. Underclassmen-after having this experience, remember that it is truly up to you to obtain your education. Don't let it slip by, work for it. Please stay safe and finish this school year with perseverance and resilience, and soon we will all be able to be together again.
